I know from first hand experience, having taken the class. Which, honestly, is more than I can say for you, Chris. Not ONCE during the class was any brand of equipment marketed at me. Equipment configurations were suggested, debated, and discussed piece by piece, but AT NO TIME was a single brand or manufacturer (sp?) shoved down my throat as the end-all be-all of diving.
Hell, my PADI Divemaster class devoted entire chapters in it's source book on how to market PADI's product - namely more dive classes. And yet I don't see you bashing PADI over the head for being a marketing scheme.
