On most vacations I show my lowest level instructor card, Unless I have a reason to dive beyond recreational limits.
MOST operators woun't burden you with newbies by default some will
ask you if you mind lending a hand, if they think it is necessary, but they don't want to lose your potential future business.

I remember a trip to the Red Sea in '95 both myself and my dive buddy were instructors, we made it easier
on the overburdened DMs and took a few divers off their hands my friend leading, and me following up the rear to keep the group close.
The crew was very thankful and made the rest of our trip quite enjoyable especially on sites where direct supervision wasn't necessary..
There would be 2 briefings 1 for the boat and a provate briefing for me and my buddy..

While the boat was limited to 30m we typically investigated specific attractions at 40M-50M,
