I switched from an Apollo jacket BC to a Pioneer 27 with an aluminum backplate. Even with a steel 120, an aluminum 30 pony, and dry suit, my weight requirement went from 24 pounds down to 15 pounds. But I also switched from lightweight Force Fins to XL Scubapro fins which weigh 3 pounds each. I also routinely carry a tool bag, two reels, and a rock pick. My maximum depth on any dive is 100 fsw.
