actually, nephrite is typically a hydrated silicate of Fe, Ca and Mg. Jadeite apparently is the stuff they're diving for and that is the more valuable stuff. It does come in a lot of different colors, including white, grey, lavendar, yellow, reddish and rust. some of it even has that bluish tinge to the green that you get with high quality emeralds. Apparently the stuff in Calif tends to be whitish to greyish....Darn!!!!!


still, i don't know if could i take my mind off of shooting or grabbing dinner long enough to go hunting for gray jade : )
