I actually set up my mail server to filter all inbound and outbound mail (including attachments, compressed files, etc). Sweet, easy, and free (as in speech and beer). And, since the server is 100% Microsoft free, no worries about infection.
The system quarantines and saves the infected message as a byproduct. I go in every so often and clean out the directory, but I imagine there's probably several hundred of them in there. I do mail relay and filtering for several groups gratis, if anyone is interested.
