Another thing that is frequently taught, that I have never understood, is to have both buddies enter and exit simultaneously. It makes far more sense to have one buddy hang back and watch while the other traverses the surfzone, then they can switch jobs. This way it's a lot easier for me to drop my gear on the sand and get out to my buddy if he starts getting worked by surf.
Any other thoughts?
