You should remember that that post was in response to Serpent
saying that a 12 year old can dive California, something that
I agreed was true, but that I was not talking about that kind
of diving. Also, while I was talking about some tough diving
you should be able to figure out that I am talking about sport
diving.
Your accuracy suffers. While you correctly mention that a few
divers do make rather extreme dives using 7 tanks without changing
them, not only is that extraordinary, they also don't swim hard
through all those tanks, they carefully relax to conserve gas and
are towed by scooters.
As I said, I am pretty sure that there is no where else that sport
divers do diving that is near as grueling in near as challenging
conditions as the hunters in California. There are isolated spots
that offer challenging diving, but at none of those places do the
divers have the same incentive to do tank after tank in them.
The Bahamas is good vis, warm water and maybe you can take a
ride in the tide if you can get to some special spot at the
right time, but mostly people there just go up their anchor
line. The Arctic really doesn't support much of a sport diving
crowd.
This discussion never started as a tough diver competition, it
was about making a point. The point still stands and there is no
group of sport divers that dive as hard, in as nasty conditions, as
California hunters.
I'm still open to suggestions if ya got em.
Enjoy the diving, seahunt
