Until I got a drysuit last month, I was using a ss backplate with twin PST LP120s and also twin Faber 95s. With a 6mm wetsuit I needed five pounds of additional lead. The tanks are not that heavy under water. With a single 95 and a BC, I used to wear 12#. You might want to try a 95 with your current setup in a pool or shallow dive first, but I don't think you need an aluminum BP.
