whenever it suits your purpose. I enjoy my diving very much and want to continue to do so for many years to come so is it due to 'puritan roots' that I look to extend the 'instant gratification' given to me by diving? I think it just is an argumentative topic and you are welcome to subscribe to any belief you like but why not inject some level of conservation that has little to no effect on your diving (unless you are too lazy to implement it of course) ie varied ascent rates, use of nitrox, etc etc. Everyone is aware of the rewards for diving research (none) compared with massive incentives in the biomedical/pharamaceutical industries so you are not going to get 'answers to all your questions'. Yeah chances are we will die from something else as my insurance man says looking at his little actuarial table (my how it resembles the PADI Wheel).
