With my VX-2000 I am able to patch in RCA cables from the video out on my VHS deck. Put the camera in VCR mode and record. It digitizes the video, then I firewire it to my PC. You have a little more trouble with dropped frames when capturing but after multiple attempts it usually works...for me anyway.
