The dropped frames are ususally an indication that you PC cannot process the data coming from the camera fast enough. If you have a fairly fast computer (say 700mhz or better) and at least 128mb of RAM then almost certainly you have a disk performance problem (which is what I had). I did a little work on my box and now get about 1 dropped frame per hour of captured video.

My drives are 7200 RPM 80gb (x2) ATA66 and my bus speed is 133. The problem I had was the ATA66 driver was not loaded. You need to get a write rate of about 25mb/sec or better. I get about 30mb right now, with a 733mhz CPU. Once I loaded the driver I've done capturing with 3 different software programs and have had success with all. right now I'm using uleads visual studio 5.0 because it's cheap and easy.

It took me quite some time to get this solved last year, hopefully someone can benefit.
