The Deciding Factor in a nutshell was technology, industrial age technology versus stone age technology, as manifested in the Winchester 30-30 repeating rifle versus the flint stone tipped arrow and bow, give or take a few abberations like the the men of the 7th Cavalry at the Little Bighorn River, who had left their Gatling Guns behind because they were too slow to tow at the fast gallop pace of a speeding mounted cavalry force.
