A word to add to Jon's good advice on custom wetsuits ...

When I was wetsuit-shopping, I couldn't get a good fit in an off-the-rack ~7mm suit for Southern California diving -- I tried Body Glove, O'Neil, Henderson, etc and nothing worked. So I decided to pay a little more for a custom suit, and got fitted for an Aquaflite.

It turns out that the salesguy in the store who measured me up bought an Aquaflite himself. On the principle that wetsuits are supposed to be a snug fit, he apparently had the tape very tight when he was measured up. As a result, some of the seams began to split within a few months.

Personally, I don't mind a bit of water getting in, but I definitely wanted a comfortable fit, so I had him hold the tape more loosely when he measured me. It worked out great -- easy to get on and off, but still quite comfortable even in winter.
