I'm not sure it was ever in the papers, but it
was covered on the ba_diving list. It was long
enough ago that ba_diving was still on best.com,
so there aren't any publicly acessible archives.
I do have a private set of archives that would
cover. I could find it in there, but it would be
real helpful someone could come up the fellow's
name.

where you will probably find some people who were
actually involved.
The diver was paralyzed from the waist down. The
local dive community did a couple of benefits for
him.
