Proof again that a bad buddy can be worse than no buddy. A major problem a new diver has is knowing who to trust. Anyone can be fooled by someones apparent skills. I keep looking back at Kevin, hours of pre-planning, not one mention of going solo, and no sooner did we hit the water, and he was gone. I tracked him down 3 times, before I finally gave up, he just wouldn't stay with me. Back on the boat, his excuse was that he felt comfortable, and wanted to dive alone. I don't mind solo or spliting up, IF it is planned, but I have a few dive under my weight belt. A new diver, or one who's never been to the dive spot should never go alone, or be left alone.
