I lived up in the Seattle area and I have to agree with Rob3, some of the best diving in the US. There are many underwater parks and many places have easy conditions. A lot of charter boats are also available. Puget Sound also has the Pacific Red Octopus, that's the largest species known. They are a blast to play with, and are fairly prolific.
Since you'll be diving in a protected area you won't experience surge like we have here on the coast. However the tides create strong currents as the ocean water fills the sound, and then empties it again. Easy enough to avoid if you are aware of it and plan for it. Most locations are in places that it isn't that much of a factor.
My advice to anyone, if you get the chance dive puget sound, it is awesome!
