I was wondering if there are any relatively cheap testing procedures for hazardous chemicals in the water. I know that you can take water samples and have them analyzed at a lab, but that takes weeks. Does anyone know of any company or companies that specialize in portable instruments that monitor for chemicals like hydrogen sulfide, methylene chloride, and compounds found in gasoline such as benzene, toluene and xylenes. I dont' want to go diving in an old wreck and have my suit melt because of a layer of these chemicals. Any input would be appreciated.
