most of Pt. Lobos is closed to divers. What
remains is probably the nicest diving in
Monterey County. Several other areas have
been closed to non-consumptive access.
We do need to be careful about where we anchor,
but do you have any idea what it takes to pull up
a holdfast? It takes a really stupid guy (to
anchor in the kelp) with a really bad-boy
windless. I've seen some kelp pulled up, but
never the whole holdfast.
