I mention MHK because GLinSD's attacks were indirectly directed at
him and he was who got so offended at the time. That is where a lot
of the board problems originated. I'm still irritable about those
problems.
>My question to you was, and is, why are you now looking to
>get rid of GLnSD?
I'm looking at GLinSD now because with the cessation of hostilities
that has broken out on this board, he sticks out like a sore thumb.
Last time he was here this board had a far more hostile atmosphere
such that he wasn't all that noticable.
>So what are the paramters of this "sniff test" and what will you do
>when the boundaries shift to inldue things YOU startr saying that
>you think are within the parameters?
If it smells bad, it fails the sniff test. It's not like this is a
subtle issue. He's a jerk with the intention of being a jerk. This
is not law or religion, just common sense. I just use my best
judgment.
Yes, it pisses me off because I was disappointed that the BBS
community has tolerated and accepted some real crap in the past. As
I've told others, I don't quickly forget.
As for my postings falling in some guide lines, I don't expect that
to happen, because I never repeatedly post with the obvious purpose
of just rudely and baselessly attacking people. That is about all
that falls under the board rules.
It's not about slippery slopes. It's about blatant nastiness that is
quite easy to identify. Anything slippery or subtle gets ignored.
Judgements about GLinSD's posts are not difficult calls or split
decisions.
>As far as public opinion is concerned, the opposition to GLnSD's
>posts/presence on this board has been uniform and obvious.
No, opposition to his opinions has been obvious. It was not obvious
that they wanted him banned from posting.
I have clearly discussed my view that no matter how obnoxious the guy
was, he pretty much avoided violating the rules Chris posted. He used
no profanity and he did not make personal attacks. His posts did qualify
as baseless and unsupported which is mentioned, but that is not why I
removed the ones I did. I did those for good taste and as a courtesy to
Chris.
Also, I'm not talking about banning him from the board. As Chris said,
only he can do that. What I'm talking about is if I see a post by him,
I will not give it the benefit of the doubt as is the common practice
on this board.
>They made all three of you look foolish and I wanted no part of
>them.
You're right about how it looked, but I am still critical those who
stood by silently while Chris (and others) took such baseless abuse
with minimal defence from the BBS community. Everybody wanted to whine
about him violating Free and Open, while ignoring a lot of downright
venemous posts about him. Only a few people defended Chris and I appreciate
what they did.
GLinSD is just a bad memeory who I wouldn't mind actively
forgetting.
