Find out the right grease to lube the o-ring so that
it slides and doesn't kink when you clamp things
down.
And yes, cleanliness is critical. Anything that you
can see or feel on the o-ring or the surfaces that it
contacts can cause a flood.
Most underwater photographers have a healthy
paranoia about this stuff. The others are called
"flooded".
