I like the clear (under the rubber) lens caps on my UK1200s & SL4s, because you can inspect the o rings once the light is screwed shut.
I have found that the o rings do not always seat uniformly, but this is easily checked.
I also only change my batteries at home in a clean dry enviornment.
I carry extra lights with fresh batteries.
That way niether the inside of the light, or the batteries is exposed to salt air.
