The reserve issue is not going away. At some point in time we are going to have to better manage OUR diminishing resident populations of fish, all of which are depressed. The problem is, some people don't want to make a sacrifice on behalf of the future, but it has to start sometime.
I have yet to hear one argument against the reserves that wasn't based entirely on self-intetest. Uninhibited self-interest is exactly the reason OUR fish populations have declined so rapidly in recent years. Reserves are THE only magic that will help bring back OUR resident fish populations. It has gotten to the point where every mature individual is an asset to the overall recovery.
