I'm pretty sure it was in Discover magazine and would have been no more than 2 years ago.
If I had the name of the indians (natives) in front of me, I doubt I could pronounce it. It was odd.
These were actually permanent fish camps along the Peruvian (I think) Coast, definately Pacific South America. The dates were around 3700 years ago, which is really old in the new world.
The notable thing about it was that the area sometimes only got rain once a year, so it was so dry that just away from the coast, bodies could be buried and they ended up preserved extremely well.
I'll look through the issues I have and try to get it to you.
