when i got certified off catalina and since i started diving january 1998, i remember seeing quite a few moray eels AND horned sharks off catalina.
granted, i haven't dived catalina in a while, but the other spots i have dived did not seem to have any horned sharks or moray eels--way more lobster, though.
(i did see one horned or swell shark this past august during one of our 3 dives off san diego.)
i sure hope the eels come back...
