There did seem to be more Morays in the past. I don't know if it's true, but I heard that Sea World took a large number for their tank.

I was diving Yellowtail Point at Catalina last Saturday and saw three on the reef. Got a couple of good shots of them. That is the most I've seen in one place in a long time. They were easy to find. All of them were in about 50 feet in the rocks along the edge of the reef. I've seen one at Goats Harbor too. I understand that all breeding takes place in Mexican waters and the larvae (or what ever they would be called) float this direction.
