Blue Planet: Seas of Life
Ocean World
60 min.
Astounding photography of the world's oceans and their denizens distinguishes this miniseries, which features mellifluous narration by David Attenborough.
The first episode of the underwater extravaganza observes the staggering variety of life in the seas. Vast shoals of sardines darken the water off the coast of Africa. In Costa Rica, 400,000 sea turtles crowd the beach to lay eggs, and thousands of squid rise from the inky depths to mate. In the second hour, which investigates how life exists in the frozen polar seas, scores of migrating fish, birds, whales and seals feed on huge plankton blooms. Two additional episodes air tomorrow, and the four final installments are scheduled for May.
