Years back, I was freediving at Zuma in about 20 feet of water.
I saw what looked like a slightly smaller than legal, black abalone on top of a rock.
I picked it up and it turned out to be a snail. Its foot was about an inch into the sand.
That is a huge snail at least 7 inches tall. I don't think it could have been a Moon Snail.
Many snails are carnivorous and I suspect it ate Pismo Clams.
Any suggestions on what this might have been?
