Another trick I've been doing before I begin my ascent is to clip a lift bag to the anchor and give it enough air to hover a few feet off the bottom. The weight of the chain should hold it there. It eliminates snagging and makes it much easier to pull up the anchor after the dive. Sometimes the anchor is already at the surface before I get to the chain. I wouldn't recommend this in heavy current or if there are other boats or rocks in the area. You don't want to drift into something while you are hanging off on the line.
