Don't bid "two increments plus $1.01". Bid what
you are willing to pay. If somebody is willing
to pay more, they win. If not, you win, That's
fair. Ebay works so that you don't pay more than
the second highest bidder plus an increment, even
if you bid more.
And if you are going to be a sniper (which is,
alas, necessary to win), three minutes is an
eternity. 30 seconds max. Dunno what happened
the first time, but make sure your clock matches
e-bays (which is spot on to WWV, so the WWV clock
in my computer room works just fine).
