I woke up Monday morning and looked out my door at the ocean and saw the opening scene from "Victory at Sea".
It did not look encouraging for my trip that night on the Peace.
However as I packed the wind seemed to lighten up.
I got to the Peace early in the afternoon, arriving just before Shel did.
We unloaded our gear and talked for a while, then I left to get dinner and a few items I needed.
After the sun went down on Monday, the wind stopped!
I went to sleep in my bunk and when I awoke that night we were already at sea, but it ha become so calm I never noticed we left the harbor.
The next morning we did our first dive at Brockway, and Ron Bennett pulled a 10.9 lb. bug.
The next dive Shel pulled one the same size while free diving.
On the fourth dive of the day I grabbed a 7.2 lb. bug.
Dwight and Mel also got big bugs that day.
On Wednesday morning the water was glass.
The first dive on Wednesday, Ron grabbed an 11.2 lb. bull, the biggest bug of the trip.
Mel and others grabbed some big ones as well.
Gary Murdock limited for the first time.
235 bugs for 24 divers … a great trip.
The conditions could not have been better.
It was the best trip I have had so far this year!
