I was on the Cee Ray last summer, just about the climb the ladder at the end of the dive when another diver came up asking for "a little help here". He had speared a nice size (About 4 foot) yellowtail. I gave up my place on the ladder until he and his fish were aboard. So yes, it can be done. I recall others on the boat commenting about the guy getting the yellowtail on SCUBA at the time. Not being a hunter myself, I did not realize how rare that was.
