As we are less than one month away from Chamber Day and Chamber Evening (Wednesday, May 1), the momentum for the Jon Hardy Chamber Challenge continues to grow as the new total is $8050.

Leading the way in our latest round of contributors is Scuba Toys in Cypress, becoming the latest scuba retailer to become a Silver level Chamber supporter with a $500 contribution. Right behind them is Jeanne Sleeper, also with a $500 contribution. Two dive clubs, the Sea Divers ($250) and the Lost Patrol ($100) have also answered the call to help support our Chamber.

As you may know, Jon Hardy spent his life not only teaching diving, but also writing about safety issues and working at our Chamber. In his will, Jon listed the Chamber as one of his designated places to where he'd like contributions made in his name. We've named the Challenge this year in his honor as a way of fulfilling that wish.

Our Chamber is available on a 24/7/365 basis and is even busier now that the Northridge Chamber is no longer in operation. Although our Chamber does get a funding grant through the county of Los Angeles, that doesn't come close to covering all their operating and overhead costs and events like Chamber Day (and the Challenge) are critical to the financial health of our Chamber. And it's also important to note that although patients treated at the Chamber are billed by the county for the medical expenses related to their treatment, our Chamber does NOT receive one penny of those fees.

That's why it's important for those of us who dive in SoCal, or make a living through the SoCal divi industry to support our Chamber. So . . . WHO'S NEXT???
