We ought to have a thread about losing stuff. Most everything I have lost has somehow come back to me. Last year I lost a snorkle twice in one day and got it back each time (although I some tok far too much delight in making me beg for it on deck). I had my 5 pound ScubaPro knife from the 70's somehow come out of its calf holster that same day. It came back to haunt me, too.
Maybe that is really my subconscience trying to switch to DIR and take only what I need.
Still my find stuff dives are more frequent than my lose stuff dives.
