A couple of year back, off of Santa Rosa Island, three people, each diving solo, were attacked by a male harbor seal. This all happen in one area of the cove. He bit one lady in the head, one guy in the back of the leg and broke skin on the wrist. The third guy was also attacked on his blind side and even grabbed hold of his camera to the extent the diver had to punch him in the nose to let go. A few week later I came across an article on an infection known as seal finger. The old seal hunter use to get this infection that would cause loss of limb.
Aside from that, they can be loads of fun to see under water
