We've gotten some nice activity in the Jon Hardy Chamber Challenge in the past few days. As you know, the Challenge is a way this year to honor the memory of Jon Hardy and help the Chamber continue to espouse the ideals Jon believed in of safe diving, as well a treating those divers who need hyperbaric attention.
We're pleased to see that Malibu Divers has joined a host of other LA-area dive shops with a pledge of $500. A lot of stores feel a duty to help support the Chamber and it adds to the overall "ecumenical" feeling of the event. (There's also another $500 donor in this go-round but Karl Huggins specifically requested that no special attention be drawn to him and we'll honor that request.)
We're also very pleased to have our friends at the California Wreck Divers supporting the Challenge with their $100 pledge. In addition to being long-time supporters of the Chamber, the Wreck Divers, as a group, will be populating the Mr. C on Chamber Day, with plans to dive the Olympic, do their Chamber tour, and then perhaps go on to the Valiant. (Just remember Wreck Divers, tempting though it may be, during your island tour, no one's allowed to "salvage" the portholes out of the Chamber.)
You'll also note a donation from Tari Hanneman and a matching donation from the California Endowment. This brings up the time to remind you to see if your employer does any type of a matching contribution for donations their employees make to charitable organizations.
