I know a caver in Florida who wears freediving fins when scuba diving in the open ocean. You have to remember, though, that these fins are on the order of three feet long, so you wouldn't want to use them in confined environments. Also I wouldn't want to be swimming too closely behind someone using freediver fins on a scuba dive.
As Chris notes, doing a giant stride with a pair of these fins on is dubious. When I've gone out freediving on scuba-oriented dive boats, I don't try to mimic the scuba water entries but just slip off the side of the boat.
