Boys & Girls,

We're about 10 full days (counting today) away from Chamber Day and we need your help if we're going to hit last year's levels of attendance and fund-raising. Here's the short version:

BOATS - Actually running a bit ahead of last year, in part due to the Flying Dutchman and John Corso & Jim Hoffman's excellent enthusiasm at selling "phantom" spots on the Magician (they're close to 60 divers - most of whom have agreed not to show). Still have a bunch of spots available on the Iron Eagle, and a few each on the Bottom Scratcher, Pacific Star, Cee Ray, Mr. C, Sea Bass, and Island Time. The Great Escape, Encore, Magician, and Westerly are all sold out. The Aquatica and the Sundiver are both wide open.

JON HARDY CHALLENGE - Running $2000 behind last year . . . BUT . . . there are 6 $1000 donors from last year in that total who appear not to be contributing this year. But it would be nice to hit $20,000 with this, which means we've got $5000 to go. (And if anyone's got $5000 that's just burning a hole in their pocket . . .)

CHAMBER EVENING - This is the big surprise as we're running significantly behind last year. In the past we've gotten around over 300 people to the event. (I think we were somewhere around 320 last year.) This year it's projecting out to 225 or so. By the same token, there's generally a last-minute surge in the final week. So if you've been waiting to call us, please wait no longer because we have to give a firm count to the caterer and at some point we have to cut off ticket sales regardless of where we are numberwise.

If you'd like to get involved, it's easy to do. You can sign up on the web at

http:\\www.chamberday.org

. . . OR . . . you can call us at 310/652-4990 and do it all over the phone. (All donations are tax-deductible as the Chamber is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization FIC 95-1642394, CGEC ONAF5.) We sincerely appreciate whatever level of support that's right for you.

Ken Kurtis
Chairman, Chamber Day/Eve 2002
