I don't usually give gear advice, cuz what works for me isn't
always/often good for others, but you said any advice so...
There is a fair arguement for full footed fins because they are
like an extension of your foot. Well, when free diving, that is
nice. You can use the power and responsiveness.
While I've swam with a lot of people with a lot of fins,
it's rare that anyone has been out swimming me. Of course
I dunno if that is a good comparrison. I'm a strong
swimmer.
For me, I have big feet, say size 15, and my feet never get cold
freediving, even up north in winter, so full foot fins are great
and I can boogie through the water. They're cheap too, because
what works best for me are the cheap plastic full footed fins
from Sport Chalet.
This year I wanted new fins, so I tried the ScubaPro Split Jets.
They were like noodles, though there is a bigger version that
is supposed to be better. I traded those for some Mares Blades
and then promptly sold those and went back to my 14 year old
full foot fins.
Freediving is active enough that cold is not as much as a
problem as with scuba. If nothing else works, give some
cheepo fins a try.
Enjoy the diving, seahunt
