I always convert to feet first....

71/12 = 5.91
8/12 = 0.67
16/12 = 1.33

Approximation formula is 7.5 * (w x h x l), where the dimensions are in feet, thus:

7.5 X (5.91 X 0.67 X 1.33) = 39.5 (approx) gallons.
