Well, since we have about 200 miles of shoreline in SoCAl, you might want to be more specific.
As a resource, you might want to check out the shore diving website at:

Also, at www.diver.net/seahunt is a lot of potential resource including a Coastal Guide - Southern, Central and Northern, as well as a description of a lot of the shore diving.
Since you say SoCal, that gives you about 4 main regions, including Malibu, Palos Verdes, Laguna and San Diego. As such, I'm sure that you can find some excellent diving.
