I see abs almost every dive trip I go on.
Most time at Catalina and Farnsworth.
San Clemente is covered with them, so is parts of San Miguel.
Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz islanda is the only island I don't see them at regularly.
They are there on occasion.
They are light sensitive, so if your shadow passes over them they may clamp down and ignore you.
I usually take a kelp leaf and tickle the mouth end of the ab with it.
Most times they will lift up to grab it.
When I used to hunt for abs I would do that and then pull the ab free without using the iron.
Now I just like feeding them.
