I found a small ab at Marineland in 1989 that I used to feed every time I dived there. It was always in the same place for more than three years until it disappeared one day. I found one at Pt. Fermin several years ago that measured 12 1/4". Biggest ab I have ever seen in SoCal. It was cruising along the sand at a pretty good pace. I was amazed at how fast and how large it was. BTW, when they find food in a hole that's too small for their shell to penetrate they will actually leave their shell and go into the hole. After eating, they return to the shell. I saw this at Catalina once, or I would never have believed it.
