For boating, true, the longer the interval, the
nicer the ride. But for diving, the longer the
interval, the deep the surge reaches. 12' at
17 seconds would be rock and roll even down to
100' or more.

Looking at the current forecasts (Saturday a.m.),
FNMOC is say 6-9' (probably closer to 9') in
the San Clemente Island area, CDIP is say 1-2',
the offshore buoys are running 4-7'. I'd say
CDIP is busted. I've e-mailed them. They've been
quite responsive in the past.
