I have the thinsulate. It isn't the lack of stretch in the material, it's more the cut of the thing. The shoulders are too tight, which makes it nigh impossible to reach back with the thing on. The legs are a bit tight in the thigh as well. I imagine that if I had gotten a larger one and had it altered, it would probably work better.
They sell Polartech type material at the yardage store. I've been kicking around getting some and doing a custom suit. But until then, my exposure gear works exceptionally well, even in Monterey.
