May I make a comment everything we do has risk, all speaking on this subject of using or not using a buoyancy device have their own validity.
We do not normally put down people doing risky things. If enough people validate it case in point deep mix gas diving, it is accepted by some ok to do while accepting the risks that go with it. What if I choose to dive with no fins in water with strong currents ie. I know this is a pretty strong example. The point being is if I understand the risks that go with doing something like that it is my business. If I start telling others that may be impressionable to do the same, maybe I would deserve some strong critisism. Telling others on this or any other BBS how great diving is without buoyance devices may be construed as I pointed out. So maybe all are correct in their own way on this subject. With that said, maybe the BC issue should be put to rest.
