First of all, vasoconstriction / vasodilation is a relatively rapid reaction. The additional amount of body heat lost is insignificant.

Secondly, if you are wearing a "skin-in" suit, and you pre-load it with warm water, that warm water will stay with you long enough to make the transition to ocean tempuratures much more gradual and less shocking. So, I'm all for it when it's available -- after all, there's nothing more miserable than getting back into a cold, wet wetsuit on those repetitive dives.

Still, despite DougD's advice and what most of the tech crowd seem to be recommending these days, diving dry is not necessarily the "only way" to dive around here.
