seahunt-MikeB [small s], Fin issues occur typically when divers DO NOT have huge muscular legs like you do. Thats where the low-resistance split fins come in, for weaker legged skin and scuba divers.

I cant see anything wrong with wearing long freediving fins for all diving, as long as your legs are able without cramping from the strain to propell them.

The only exception might be deep diving applications. In deep diving, you really dont want to kick with your fins much if at all. You instead want to float around as much as possible with minimal energy expenditure. Floating down the anchor line. Carefully slowly pulling back up it. Floating around the shipwreck site. Carefully pulling yourself with your fingertips through it, if penetrating. No kicking at all, if possible.

In the latter case, your fins mostly get used for steering, not propulsion. So then, for you, simple duckfins or jetfins would be fine. Dont need freediving fins way down there.

Im sure others have differing views. But Ive never seen and cant imagine anyone with freediving fins on at 100 fsw or more.
