3 to 5 ft surf is too big to try and go out anyway. Their mistake happened before they even got in the water. Anything over 3 ft and the vis ain't gonna be any good anyway. Except on the rare South swell when Ive seen 6ft waves and 20 ft vis. I skin dived that day but even though beach diving is my forte, I would have passed on scuba that day. Kudos to *Jane* for keeping her head and living. Good story.
