My understanding is that he was found floating unconscious on the surface by a kayaker (I presume he was diving solo since I've not heard mention of a buddy), the kayaker towed him in to shore, summoned lifeguards who worked on him and transported him to Torrance Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The post-mortem autopsy was conducted this afternoon but I'm not aware of any results or conclusions.
