At every dive site you will get captn or her give a briefing saying what the spot is like, if there is a current, which way the good stuff is, depths and all you may need to know. You can always go and ask. Relax. Annacapa is very cool. If you hit Game Reserve look for black seabass, they hang around there.
Easiest way not to get lost is drop down the anchor, check the depth, and just maintain the depth going out, turn around, maintain the depth going back. You can't miss the anchor this way. Ted _always_ drops the rear anchor so you can use it as descent/ascent reference. Have fun.
